Wendi Trulson is ecowott the “eco” refers to the environmental integrity of my arts practice and the” wott” is acronym for” Wendi of the Treasure “a name from my childhood. I have been a maker all my life and am now satiated to be back designing and sewing clothing.

I work with a natural dye process that is ecologically sound and keeps the environment and its users safe. My love of nature and the Australian Eucalypts has led me to this alchemy via the wondrous ways of India Flint and her teachings.

The infinite use of resources is very important to me and I wish to encourage others to think about the fabric they wear and consume. In my arts practice I am always exploring the possibility to rework and renew fabric and clothing into usable & wearable art. Thus, relieving the impact of chemical dyes and the waste of the textile industry to the landfills of the world.

So please tread lightly on this earth.

My mentors / teachers  and inspiration

We live close to Binna Burra National Park and not too far from the coast (Gold Coast) at a little place called Beechmont. Peter discovered this place back in the 80’s when he use to hang glide here ( now he and Jasper both paraglide the local ridges ). With the opportunity to move to this area, Jasper was just a babe in arms and I knew this was for me. Open spaces, clean air, chooks and a vege patch.  I have a great passion for textiles, food gardens/ cooking and community.
