A merry day was had at ATASDA’s Christmas Fair, held at the BVAC house at Tarragindi on Saturday. A big thanks to all those whom supported us all with your purchases.
The trek out to the Lost World Valley early in the morning on our way to Arts in the Olives Festival is always special and yesterday was a full of joy with the misty valleys, hot air balloons and gifts for me :)
Ula at 13 is a doer and all my gifts from her were hand made.
she also beavered away at this with the help of her Dad
An early start to a big day out and I could not do it without the rest of the family, a trailer to pack and unload, canopy to erect and stock to display but it is worth it. The day Arts in the Olives is set in a valley named The Lost World. This year they had 2000 people through the gate and we were busy bees all day.
and a thanks to the photos by Sandra from Mudbrick Cottage Herb Farm
I have a Christmas Bazaar coming up at The Botanic Gardens in Brisbane, I just need to label and deliver and pay a % to the organizer, I do this with my stock at Binna Burra too. The Gig is the Botanique Christmas Bazaar at the Botanic Gardens (21st November to 24th November) This is leading me to the silk/lycra mix with its sheen and lovely feel I have made two gilets with big arm holes easy to wear over t-shirts or similar. I wanted to try a shibori style but I am a bit of a random soul so I do actually find this a bit challenging! But with my trusty bits of copper I have succeeded ! the other silk has a lurex thread through it but has been bundled in my regular fashion.
I had a lovely time meeting new and catching up with friends on the weekend, thank you all who popped into visit.
It was what we hoped for and will evolved into a regular occurrence …. I Love Local !!
You can see it all here Beechmont Artists
I have been playing with some paj silk that I have made into triangular scarves… a bit of hand stitching … two of the scarves were quickly mordant-ed with copper water ( copper bits in a jar with vinegar and water ) I used some leaves that I could predict the outcome like quandong and rose leaves others like dock weed, clary sage and pear tree were unknown ….. and had some lovely surprises especially the clary sage.
These scarves are especially lovely for the spring /summer weather and will be added to my market stock for this Friday night at the Miami Marketta.
PS dock weed just went slimy
I have booked into a stall site at a Friday night market on the coast its called the Miami Marketta
I have never been in love with the early start for regular markets nor the time they eat into our weekends so this may work for me. So if you are around the coast on Friday the 13th come to 23 Hillcrest Parade MIAMI and visit this hip little precinct, they usually have live music, great food too.
On the local front…. up the road at Binna Burra Lodge the gift store is being renewed with lots of Local goods… so I have placed a few pieces on consignment.
So I have been a busy little bee….. bundling and stitching.
