I am always exploring new ways with the mediums that I use in my arts practice. I did a workshop with Tricia Smout and love some of the ideas she shared with us. The eco dyed paper made into little origami folded books tied up with my silk string .These little beauties will feature at my Stall at Arts in the Olives in May along with origami folded boxes too.
I have wrapped another piece of tissue silk cause it makes such lovely twine/string some paj and a cotton hankie just to see what happens over time….this jar has purple carrot, turmeric and carrot tops let me see how long I can leave it out in the sun the lid is black and it seems to heat up well during the day.
Well a year has flown by and I am in a quandary over the Etsy dilemma…. so I have tried to produce an item that I can reproduce easily and not have to keep updating with new photos etc… etc …. anyone with an Etsy store will now what I am talking about. So this is my start in that direction hand made silk string ( taught to me by India Flint) with aged pegs with the help of Lisa Jordan to ……”peg up your dreams and affirmations ” PS they are now in store
My bundle of extra goodies came with some lovely threads so out came a piece of wool blanket that I had dyed months ago, it had not inspired me but the magic thread brings it lo life. These pieces that I am finishing and embarking on over the next coming weeks are destine for my first Market of the year at Arts in the Olives in May.
I have hand stitched the hem (yes I know I have just bought a sewing machine but I love the look of hand stitching) of another Gilet that is a crinkle silk, am unsure as to its ability to print in a bundle so I will use some lichen dye and forgo the leaf prints.
Just another distraction thanks to India Flint, they make great book marks
