opening my mind

I spent a week in January at Summer School in Ballarat with Roxanne Lasky, it was mindful and fulfilling experience.

explore

open mind

think about thinking

value silence

finding my pathways ….. in landscape and cross roads …. mapping my thoughts with stitch

And just a a couple of weeks ago I spent 3 days with India Flint on Mount Tamborine “being (t)here” workshop.

Another sublime experience …… more words ….. they now sing in my head

I have never been a wordy soul…. oral yes, and now around me I see and feel words.

I was almost too afraid to attend a “being (t) here” workshop as the idea of poetry , albeit lack of it in my life was going to put me in a scary space.

India has an amazing talent and is an engaging teacher, I have come away from my three days of  freedom to explore with a new spin on my ability to see and hear through new eyes and ears.

a trip away to summer school

excitedly I booked for a week with Elizabeth Bunsen at Summer School in Ballarat, sadly Elizabeth had to cancel but I am sure we will see her again some time soon.

So now I am going to spend a week with Roxanne Laskey immersing myself in threads of meaning. Just think a whole week no cooking/washing or cleaning….. just stitching !

I have been working on a couple of pieces for the exhibition The Challenge

rebirth the universe

re-purposed linen table runner……. dipped in the ocean….. bundled with leaves ….then filled with white stitches

The other is  Black and White very out of my comfort zone I have built a collage using a technique taught by Cas Holmes

ode to aubrey  it is an ode to my Grandfather Aubrey  and still in need of more stitching to finish this piece off

smitten by the blues

I have been itching to get “blue”…… indigo blue and at last a simple and affordable introduction to the how to’s. Located in Brisbane at a great workspace aptly named Work-Shop, they have outlets in Melbourne and Sydney too.

“Creative Classes for Curious Minds”

So I got my hands blue and loads of other stuff..thanks to teacher Claudia Husband.

workshop @ mudbrick herb cottage

wow what a joy….. yummy lunch around the table, herbal teas and coffee, gluten free and dairy free food supplied by Sandra the host, and all this lusciousness and relaxing ambiance was included in the workshop I ran for her today. The herb farm sells their plants online @ Mudgeeraba and we had free range of the garden for our ingredients for the sandwiched artist books. Thank you to all as it was a wonderful day.

where have i been

How time fly’s i have been busy but not totally with my arts practice !

That is about to change as I am about to teach for two days at The Mudbrick Herb Cottage @ Mudgreeaba

As a Family we had a weeks holiday at Rainbow Beach, the house we rented was only a walk to town and across the road from the beach. This didn’t really give me the opportunity to boil up big brews but i was able to sneak in a small pot and dye some thread. The little township has grown and has some funky little cafes, gelato parlor and art gallery’s. Jilartys cafe had workshops available and i spent an afternoon making moss balls for plants. And next time i am in town i will run some sort of workshop for them.

loving paper play

The dress that I posted about and was on the catwalk at the Ekka received a third !             I have been very busy with my other job @ Eden Seeds ramping up for spring… thus not much posting.                                                                                                                          Am excited to say that I am attending a two day workshop stitching with Dorthy Caldwell next week ….my time to bliss out and soak it all up .
